What I’m Listening To: Mahalia Buchanan’s Redeemed To Worship

If you are a lover of gospel music on the African continent, you are most probably well acquainted with Joyous Celebration. One of the group’s many break out stars Mahalia Buchanan released her debut album and DVD, Redeemed to Worship last year.

I didn’t hear much noise about it until I recently decided to just give it a listen on Apple Music and I was blown away. Mahalia is one of those people who not only got a double portion when God was giving out voices, but she is also an anointed worshiper.

It’s hard to choose a favourite song on the album because I could relate to most of them with regards to my personal life. However if I was forced, I would say Heal Me Jesus and the Afrikaans song, Jesus, are my two stand outs. Redeemed To Worship garnered Mahalia nominations for Best Newcomer, Best Worship Song and Best Praise song at the 8th SABC Crown Gospel Awards.

Watch the below videos where Mahalia belts out Heal Me Jesus, Ngiyabonga Jesu Kuwe as well as a medley of songs which sees her cover songs from fellow gospel artists and Joyous Celebration alums as a show of gratitude.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the actual DVD.
