Who Is Luke James?

Don’t worry. I also didn’t know when I read that he would be the opening act for Beyoncé’s Mrs Carter Show World Tour. A quick Google search taught me that Luke James ( @whoislukejames) is a 28 year old R&B singer and songwriter. I also learned that he has sung back-up for Tyrese and has written songs for Chris Brown, Britney Spears, Keri Hilson and Justin Bieber. What Google didn’t have to teach me however, is how good of a singer he is! Check out these videos that I found on YouTube of this talented singer (who is quite the looker too). I really hope that Beyoncé intends on bringing her tour to South Africa. I would love to see Luke live.

First up is “I Want You” which is my absolute favourite. This song earned him a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance in 2013. His falsetto could put even the likes of Usher and Justin Timberlake to shame!

Next up is “I.O.U.” where he basically talks about how lucky he is to have his lover and how grateful he is for everything that she has done for him. I love the fact that his love interest in the video has a bald head. Don’t ask me why though. I just love it. Beautiful!

Lastly we have “Make Love To Me” in which I was quite surprised to see Kelly Rowland making a cameo. What I love about the video is that it has a late 90’s early 2000 feel to it that we don’t really get to see in music video’s these days. His vocals on the song are on point as with the previous two songs.

If you’re still not sold, he can back it up live. A feat not many artists can boast. This is a fan video from the North American leg of the Mrs Carter Show World Tour. If you’re not sold, you need an intervention.
