Watch what happened when I put #SorbetMan to the test…

How many times have you heard men say “I just use whatever my wife is using” when asked how they take care of their skin? Even with barber shops being around for years, men have never had the alternative that their wives have – a salon that offers comprehensive treatments beyond the cut and shave…

Enter Sorbet Man… A salon that caters specifically for men, with treatments ranging from haircuts, to facials to manicures… Err… MAN-icures. See the treatment menu HERE.

When I first got the offer to check out the salon I was a bit surprised and honestly thought it was not a thing for blacks. So being my mischievous self, I set out to give them the ultimate challenge – to wash my afro. I was taken care of by a lady by the name of Lelanie who was a consummate professional and very knowledgeable in treating natural black hair. My manicure was also done by Moipone, who told me that all the staff at the store underwent intensive 8-week training before being appointed.

After getting my double espresso, I proceeded to let Leleanie work her magic. She used Moroccan Oil products that were sulphate, parabens and phosphate free. Double thumbs up from me. See the video below of what happened when I put Sorbet Man to the challenge and check out their treatment menu HERE.

My thoughts:

All the while sitting in the chair, I was thinking of what I did not like from the experience since I do not want to sound biased and I could honestly not point out a single thing. The staff were friendly and the salon looked amazing. On top of that, Lelanie did a great job with my hair and Moipone did a great job with my manicure. If I could add something it would be free wifi – I’m not sure if they already have. If they do, they forgot to tell me. Will I be returning? Definitely.

These pics were taken by my lovely and capable friend, Siya.

Filling out  form for their loyalty programme. Huge fan of those.

When you recline into the seat at the washing station you have the perfect view of a flat screen TV.

Lelanie used Moroccanoil products which are great for all hair types and don’t contain toxic chemicals.

I was treated like royalty…

I’m getting a massage when I return.
