Trending In My Life This Week… 6

I feel like an absolute dog for last week’s silence, but every now and then something happens in your life and your world changes. My hardest lesson last week was that life changing situations are what we make of them. When your heart gets broken you either see the side of the coin that tells you that you were not good enough or you look at the side that tells you that there is hope and that you now know what to look out for next time. I would not have learnt this lesson had I went on with my internet habits. I would have cast it aside and let it pile up till breaking point. I’m glad I didn’t.

This week went by amazingly fast and I thank the good Lord for that. I have a lot of admin lined up as well as a lot of catching up to do since I spent most of last week moping. I did manage to get some time to publish a few posts and managed to write some for next week as well. Here’s what has been trending in my life this week…

On my playlist:

I pulled out an old Toni Braxton record to nurse the last of my wounds and bruises and I realised just how good she is. I wish she would head back onto the trail that she was on and create beautiful music again. I also listened to Alicia Keys’ new song with Maxwell entitled “Fire We Make” and I absolutely loved it. I first heard it on Metro FM and immediately searched for the video on YouTube. I was also impressed by Ciara’s “Body Party” but overall Fantasia’s “Lose To Win” has been my anthem this week. Check out the video below.

What I watched:

I was quite surprised at the silence on twitter with regards to this week’s Intersexions and concluded that it was boring, but I watched it and well… it was okay. Zikhona Sodlaka is on next week’s episode and I am sure it is going to be good because she is an excellent actress.

I also watched the video below of Beyoncé performing “Grown Woman” live in Paris and I am absolutely excited to see the entire music video. I am really looking forward to her upcoming album. She also released a video of her H&M commercial with “Standing On The Sun” as the background track. That is a total of 3 commercials in a space of less than one month. Release the album already!

I also watched the behind-the-scenes footage from Clint Brink’s “All I Have To Give” and I must say Clint is a very talented musician. The song is the first single from his latest offering entitled “Reality Show”.

What I found interesting on twitter:

“Black twitter” is raving about a new blog entitled “Zulu Girl Goes to Jhb”. I have only read the first chapter but I will remark that the slightest of things can go viral on twitter. Quality is not even important. Check it out HERE.

Wisaal, Allegro, Lelo and Janine all attended the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch which was held in Johannesburg last night and their tweets about the new smartphone had me in dreamland. Some of the features they tweeted about include:

  • air view functionality where you can select or view pop-up windows by merely hovering over the screen;
  • the S Translator which allows you to translate text or audio to or from about 10 different languages;
  • pausing videos by merely looking away from the screen. The video will resume as soon as you look at the screen again.

There are more features HERE. Pretty awesome, huh?!

What I found interesting on the interwebs:

Ella Fitzgerald was honoured with her very own Google doodle in commemoration of what would have been her 96th birthday. She has recorded a whopping 200 plus albums and has won a staggering 13 Grammy awards. I featured her on Throwback Thursday HERE.

Plans for next week:

I will probably still be catching up next week as I have gotten quite behind. I will also be working on some music. I can’t wait to share my music with all of you as well as the music I have been working on with other artists, but everything happens in due time.

Remember to send me an email on if you would like for me to do a stylebook for you. A stylebook is a compilation of looks put together in an album format from clothing that you already have in your closet. Take the hassle out of deciding what to wear!

Have a lovely weekend!
