Playlist: Jeff Darko, Tina Campbell and Riky Rick dominate my playlist

I haven’t done one of these in a while. Here are the songs currently dominating my playlist.

Jeff Darko – Bystander:

I found out about Jeff Darko through Facebook. His vibrant photographs were hard to miss once he appeared onto my timeline after a friend had liked his page. The Ghanaian born artist is simply amazing. Bystander is his latest effort which talks about embracing yourself and loving yourself just the way you are – something many of us struggle with. The sound is what I imagine Beyoncé’s Fela inspired album would have sounded like. Check it out below:

Tina Campbell – Destiny:

I watch clips of Mary Mary’s reality show on YouTube and this clip popped up of Tina Campbell previewing her latest single entitled Destiny. It is a prayer about knowing that God’s will for your life shall be done no matter what. I’ve been listening to it a gazillion times since first hearing it. She will also be releasing a book in may which will accompany the track. Check out the video below:

Riky Rick ft Sibot – Tick Tick Boom:

I saw Riky Rick perform at Axecess Jozi and I was thoroughly impressed. I first noticed him in the Amamntombazane video and paid even more attention after hearing Umswenko – it is so catchy. For Tick Tick Boom, Riky has collaborated with Sibot. I had my stank-face on and almost started twerking when I first heard it and also found out that Captain Morgan has claimed the track as an anthem for Captain O’Clock, the time of the night where you reach for a Captain – it definitely does make me wanna turn all the way up!

Check out the track below and download it for free via Slikour On Life courtesy of Captain Morgan.
