Obsessed with Mayonde

I can’t remember how I got to know about Mayonde, but I’m glad I discovered her music a few months ago. Those who know me know that I have a passion for African musicians that make music that is relevant to this generation but that is still authentically African.

Mayonde is Kenyan musician all the way from Nairobi. She released her debut single Rise, inspired by the Maya Angelou poem ‘Still I Rise’, in 2014 and has now come back with a new single entitled ‘Angels’ which will be on her highly anticipated sophomore album.

This is definitely one of the artists who I would love to see live and even collaborate with one day.

Here are three tracks from Mayonde to get you up to speed.
