New music from Idris Elba – You Give Me Love

Idris Elba won’t have a difficult time should he decide to relocate to South Africa. His was the name on everyone’s lips a few weeks ago when he played a DJ set at an Oude Meester event in Johannesburg. He also crept into the heart of many South Africans when he played Nelson Mandela in the biopic about his life. Still on that Mandela tip, Idris has now released an album inspired by the icon entitled mi Mandela.

In the video below he speaks about the latest single from the album, You Give Me Love.

Idris wrote and produced the album while he was in South Africa shooting the movie. The album infuses South African sounds such as Mbhaqanga. I thought this particular song sounded more Reggae/Jamaican than South African but it is good nonetheless.
