Monsters with green eyes

There has been much buzz lately around the ‘Jealousy’ music video by multi award winning South African hip hop artist, AKA. This got me thinking about the topic of jealousy. A topic seldom addressed…

We have all experienced jealousy in our lives. Whether on the receiving end or otherwise. For me it has always been in regards to school. Always being top of my class meant praise from my teachers and sneers from my classmates. I worked hard nevertheless.

A lesson that I have learnt from receiving so much jealousy, is to respect the jealousy because ultimately, those who are jealous are the ones who are indirectly admitting that you are better than them or that you have something that they don’t.

Then of course, I’ve also been jealous a countless amount of times. What I’ve taught myself to do, is to fake it till I eventually make it. I would pretend to be happy for someone and eventually my happiness would be genuine and I move on.

When your heart learns to smile over someone else’s triumph, they’re triumph will be a driving force to our own success.

“Jealousy is a poverty mentality. It is believing that there aren’t enough blessings to go around.”

Think about it… Let it simmer.

Peace, love and all that good stuff!
