Lira, Zibu Mkhwanazi and Bongani Gumede inspire at Nedbank’s #Talks4Success

Nedbank’s #Talks4Success returned to Joburg with songstress Lira, Avatar Digital CEO Zibu Mkhwanazi and Nedbank graduate Bongani Gumede. (I wrote about the last one HERE and HERE.) I’m a Lira groupie so seeing her was a great a great treat for me. Here are some quotes from all the speakers:

“Money does not bring you contentment. Purpose brings contentment.” – Zibu Mkhwanazi

“Good critique is there to build you.” – Zibu Mkhwanazi

“Key lessons are learnt in the deep end.” – Zibu Mkhwanazi

“A degree only shows the employer that you have the ability to learn.” Bongani Gumede

“I love these talks because they give me a chance to talk about how I made it. And I do believe I’ve made it.” – Lira

“Looking back, I realise that I wrote my own story 11 years ago. I created this life.” – Lira

“I saw music unify people when I was a child and that is why I do the music I do. Music that uplifts.” – Lira

“I made R4.2m for the company I worked for & got thanked with cake & coke & realised something is not right.” – Lira

“I don’t regret my education because it taught me how to turn my talent into a business. Education refines you.” – Lira

“Part of my brand-value is to uplift Africa’s image to the world & most importantly, Africa’s image to herself.” – Lira

“Part of my brand-value is to uplift Africa’s image to the world & most importantly, Africa’s image to herself.” – Lira

Slikour was our host and also added some words of encouragement in-between his hosting tasks. As before, Nedbank did not disappoint and I left the event thoroughly inspired. A job well done.
