Lira sets new record for South African music on an international scale

Lira has made no secret of the fact that she aims to let the world know about African music as Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela have once done before her. Fresh from her US Tour, the singer can now boast a new accolade, for her single “Feel Good” which was featured on the Girlfriends soundtrack, has now reached the VH1 Top 40 Chart – a feat no other South African artist has reached before as she is the first South African artist to have a song playlisted on the channel.Lira VH1 Top 40I am super excited at the possibility of seeing Lira later this month at Nedbank’s Talks for Success which will take place here in Johannesburg. Hopefully I will get to meet her and ask her a few questions on her US trip as well as her future plans. Lira will also be embarking on her Making Herstory tour which will see her performing at venues across the country as she ends the first year of her second decade in music. Can you tell I’m a groupie yet? Catch her at the Teatro at Montecasino on the 2nd and 3rd of October. Tickets are available at Computicket. Also check her live performance of Feel Good from her Captured Tour below:
