Every year on the 24th of September, we celebrate Heritage Day here in South Africa. This day is meant to celebrate who we are and where we come from as South Africans. It is truly amazing to hear people share their diverse heritage as our nation is made up of a wide array of people with different cultures and traditions and origins.
For the first time in my life, I wasn’t home for Heritage Day. Usually we would have a braai (berbeque) at home or just a family dinner with myself, my mother and my sister. I sure missed that this year but I had fun nevertheless. I spent it with my new family at International Community Christian Church in Hatfield, Pretoria.
