Dear Mother

My life has been a battle from day one and you have been the main soldier in my army from the very beginning. From giving me a name that would make me my own person to ensuring that throughout my life I have the best of everything that you can give me.

I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am to be your child. God could have given me to anyone but he chose you and I would not have it any other way. You never dismiss my dreams but instead you encourage and support me in the best way you know how. While today is just a normal day for everyone to thank their mothers, I am truly reminded of our journey which has not been without its hurdles.

If there is ever any shade of doubt in your mind, I pray that it will be erased right now. You have been the best mother I could ever have. You have loved me to the best of your heart’s capability. You have given me the best that you could give me, and for that I want to thank you.

I want to honour you while God is still keeping you alive for Zenande and I. I want to give you your flowers while you can still smell them. There is so much that I want to give you, but it all comes down to love because materially there is nothing that could ever compensate.

Thank you, Mommy. I love you, Mommy. Happy Mothers’ Day.
