[Beauty With A Conscience] Carolina Herrera’s Smile With A Cause Initiative

I first got to know of Carolina Herrera on an episode of America’s Next Top Model where the models did a photo shoot portraying various designers. The winning photo for that particular episode was by Chelsey who portrayed Carolina Herrera. Fast forward to 2014 I learn that Carolina actually has a daughter with the same name who is the Creative Director for her mother’s house of fragrances.

In the February 2014 issue of Destiny Magazine, Sheena Adams talks to the young Carolina about the Carolina Herrera Support with a Smile initiative. Despite the initiative being established five years ago, Carolina recently came to South Africa to partner with Dr Carol-Ann Benn’s Breast Health Foundation to offer care to breast cancer survivors.

The programme will provide care to breast cancer survivors with the help of volunteers who will be assisting with guiding patients with their treatment and offering other practical, emotional, physical and spiritual support. They are currently working on a special room, at the Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg where they will offer their services.

I love it when big brands realise that their role in society goes far beyond offering products for consumption. We all have a responsibility towards society. Power to the Carolinas!
